Bet You Didn't Know.... (from yes mag)

…that she never liked school.
She admits she was never the ideal student. “Tamad akong mag-aral. Hindi naman ako nagka-cutting class…Madalas akong mag-absent. Nasa bahay lang naman ako. Ewan ko nga kung bakit ako pumasa, e. ‘Yon yung pangit sa akin, ang tamad-tamad ko.” To make up for her educational weakness, she sent her siblings to school.

…that as a young girl, she was good at playing Chinese garter. “Magaling ako tumalon noon.”

…that she would like to try bungee jumping. “Wala pa kasi akong nata-try na anything like that. Kasi hindi ako pinapayagan. Pero hindi ako takot. Ang pinaka-ano ko na, yung nag-harness ako sa ‘R2K’ concert ko. At kumakanta ako habang naka-harness! Kaya mo ‘yon?”

… that she has a weird sleeping habit that she does unconsciously. “Natutulog ako ng naka-de-kwatro,” she laughs. “Hindi ako aware, kaya pinagtatawanan na lang nila ako.”

… that she loves cooking. “At least I try to cook. I can probably cook anything, kasi everything naman starts by ‘yong gigisahin mo, di ba?! So, experiment-experiment, mahilig ako diyan.”

… that, given the chance, she would like to learn to speak French.

… that she wants to go vacationing in Africa. Asked what she wants to see there, she jests: “Africanos.” Turning serious, she says: “No, I think it’s a very interesting place to visit. Kasi di ba napaka-primitive pa doon? Although ‘yong iba, modern na rin. Pero ang alam ko, karamihan, hindi pa rin masyado. Saka kasi nakapunta na rin naman ako ng Paris, ng America…So, I wanna go to Africa.”

… that she is worrisome. “I am a worry freak. Halimbawa, may concert, hay, nako, I would worry about everything! Kung sino manonood, kung ganito, ganyan.” Jokingly, she adds: “Ang hindi ko wino-worry, yung baka umulan? Kasi feeling ko, talaga namang uulan pag nagko-concert ako, e. Ready na ako doon!” Most of the time, though, her worries center on members of her family. “It’s always about my family. I shouldn’t be worried actually. Kasi, they have their own lives na rin naman, but sometimes, I can’t help it.”

… that she’s an early riser. “I wake up at like, 9:00 a.m.,” she says. “Kahit wala akong schedule na trabaho, I’m awake at 9:00 a.m.!”

… that she gets jittery prior to a show, and the physical manifestation of her jittery state is: “Ihi ako ng ihi kapag nervous ako before a concert. Like, in five minutes, I’d be able to go [to the bathroom], like, four times. Pero ‘pag nasa stage ka na, wala ka nang mararamdaman.”

… her guilty pleasure is buying expensive stuff. “Like, if I buy bags, ganyan, nagi-guilty ako after.”

… that she doesn’t have any big mole on any part of her body. “But don’t ask me kung ilan ang moles ko, kasi hindi ko alam. Mabibilang mo ba ‘yon?”

… that her ticklish part is her neck, extending to her nape.

…that she’s not interested in doing a horror movie. “Hindi nga ako nanonood ng horror films, tapos pagagawain mo pa ‘ko? Ayoko nga.” However, she says she wouldn’t mind playing an action role, as long as it does not involve gun-handling. “I wouldn’t feel comfortable.”

… that she hates her legs and loves her nose. “I have ugly legs, e.”

… that she knows, by heart, Julia Robert’s famous line in the romantic film Notting Hill:
“I am just a girl, standing in front of a boy asking him to love her.”

…that, yes, she has already seen a triple XXX movie and her reaction to it was:
“Shocked and at the same time parang, ‘Hmmm…I wonder if you can really do that? Don’t you wonder? Like, ‘yong parang ang weird? Saka para sa akin, very clinical ‘yong dating. Parang, ‘Really? That’s how it’s done?’ That’s kind of hard to do. So, very clinical ang dating sa akin, educational even.”

… that among her own songs, her personal favorites are “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” and “You Are My Song.”
“Kailangan’ was right for me. And a good friend [Ogie Alcasid] wrote it for me. ‘Yong ‘You are…,’ because it was also written for me [by Martin Nievera]. Both were written by good friends, and both became big hits. Before, pag tinatanong ako, I’d always say ‘You Are My Song,’ but ever since ‘Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw’ came… e, ang ganda naman talaga noong song na ‘yon, e. Kaya nga ginawa nang commercial ‘yon, e. Para tuloy si Ogie, ang daming raket!

… that among her acting roles, it’s the role of the autistic girl Abby in “Maalaala Mo Kaya?” that she treasures the most. ‘Yong kami ni Piolo Pascual. Maganda talaga ‘yong role na ‘yon, saka parang nagalingan ako sa sarili ko doon.”

… that her favorite childhood memory concerns a singing contest that she joined, during which her half-slip literally slipped down her waist. “Hiyang-hiya ako! Maluwag kasi ‘yong half-slip. Hindi kasi akin ‘yon, sa nanay ko. So, habang kumakanta, itinataas ko. Win naman ako noon, kaya okey na rin sya. Pero ngayon, parang nakakataw na siyang alalahanin. “Coincidentally, ‘Bakit Ako Mahihiya?’ was her winning song in that contest.

… that her answer to the complete-the-sentence line “Too much love…” is this: “…is probably bad for your health.”

… that she found her first communion host “parang lasang biskuwit.” She recalls:
“Nasarapan ako. At excited ako talaga noong first communion.”

… that her first allowance in grade school was 25 centavos. “E, mahirap lang kami, e.”

… that the very first movie she saw was Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

… that the only heroes in her book are her parents. “I know some people would probably think it’s such a corny answer…na parang…obvious naman. Pero, my parents talaga. Kasi hindi naman nga kami mayaman. So ‘yong mga pinagdaanan nila, ‘yong mga sacrifices that they had to go through para lang sa mga anak nila… Kaya, kahit sino pa man sa mundo, parang feeling ko sila ang dapat hangaan. That’s why they’re my heroes.
